Hi, I’m so glad you are here!

I consider the client-designer relationship to be at the heart of a positive design experience. There is nothing more satisfying than helping a client find design solutions for their space that makes their everyday life easier, happier and more enjoyable.

My interest in interior design began as a child when my sister and I played “designer” by creating pretend clients and using our mom’s decorating magazines as inspiration. Since then my appreciation for the interior environment has grown and matured, but my passion for the impact our surroundings have on our happiness has remained constant.

While studying Art History at Dartmouth College I became fascinated with learning about daily life throughout history and how that impacted architectural and design solutions.  I further pursued my design education at the New York School of Interior Design.  I often receive inspiration from my art history background and love to reinvent classic traditions with a modern twist. But even more importantly, I draw upon my listening skills and my relationships with my clients when creating a design plan.

After spending several years designing in New York City and then Chicago, my husband and I relocated to Minneapolis for his job. When we arrived in Minneapolis, I was 33 weeks pregnant with our first son, Parker. Two years later, his little brother Charlie arrived.

While having a new baby always changes your life, giving birth to Charlie turned our world upside down. The day after he was born, we learned he had a serious congenital heart defect, and would require open heart surgery within the first few months of his life in order to survive.  We spent the next several years immersed in doctors’ appointments, therapies, and hospitals.  Home became our respite more than ever, a place we could be the four of us without judgment or questions, a comfortable bed without beeping alarms and nurses taking vitals throughout the night, the ability to eat a homecooked meal at our family table instead of in a hospital cafeteria.

Today, both boys are happy and healthy. With that good fortune, I have been able to shift my focus from purely surviving to helping others find comfort and joy with their families in their own home. My family’s entrance into a world of chronic illness gave me a whole new perspective. Interior design is still my passion, but I now view the design process as something more than creating a magazine worthy space. It’s truly about helping families find more joy and comfort in their home and in their lives.

If there’s anything I can do to help you find greater joy and comfort in your home, please get in touch! I’d love to hear from you

 Wishing you health and happiness,

Jodie Shields
